IIM Ahmedabad welcomes its new batch of PG students
NEW DELHI, JUNE 20: IIM Ahmedabad welcomed students of Post Graduate Programme for Management (PGP) and Post Graduate Programme for Food and Agri-Business Management (PGP-FABM) for the academic year of 2019-21.
The students are mostly experienced professionals hailing from diverse backgrounds, with 49% of the students having at least 13 months of experience. This year’s batch saw a leap in students from agriculture background with 48% candidates, while 26% of the students were from food and dairy technology backgrounds.
Speaking on the diverse nature of the batch, Chairperson (Admissions) Prof. Vishal Gupta said, “Our admissions policy helps us admit students with diverse perspectives...this is part of a conscious effort to improve the in-class learning experience of students, who we believe would benefit from being in class with people from diverse background.”
The diversity of the batch is not limited to the related fields of food and agriculture as there are also students from other backgrounds such as journalism. “My undergraduate course in Communication Studies gave me a wider perspective as it involved various facets of organisational behaviour, internet and new media, human communication, and media research and criticism... Now, my key objective behind pursuing this programme is to learn all aspects of managing and strengthening a business while also obtaining necessary industry knowledge and expertise,” said Manasi Susarla, a Student of PGP batch 2019-21 with a background in Journalism and Communication.
