IIM Calcutta conducts virtual city meets for the incoming MBA batch
COVID-19 compelled IIM Calcutta to hold the meet, usually held on campus, online.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta welcomed the 58th MBA batch in a virtual city meet with alumni on Monday.
As many as 480 students and alumni spread across in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata participating in the virtual meets.
The meet, usually conducted in physical mode, was turned into a virtual event due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Last year, too, the institute had hosted the incoming students of the 2022 batch digitally.
“Traditionally, these annual city meets are held physically across India for the incoming batch where new students get an opportunity to interact with current students, renowned alumni, and their future batch mates. It also gives them an insight into the life that awaits them at Joka,” an official statement said.
To familiarise students with life at the IIMC campus, the alumni and current batch interacted with incoming students. Notable alumni also shared their experiences at the IIM C campus and the life lessons they learned while pursuing their courses. An orientation session was also held for the new students through an online presentation.
As a measure of environmental conservation, IIM Calcutta has also pledged to plant over 350 trees on behalf of those who attended the meet.
