COVID-19: IIM Calcutta students are currently attending the classes from hostels hoping that the Covid situation will get better.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has shifted its classes to online mode since about 28 students from the IIM Calcutta Executive MBA batch were tested COVID-19 positive, reported News18. As many as 58 students are in home isolation presently.
As per media reports, about 76 students of the IIM Calcutta MBA batch were called back to the campus and their class had started only the previous week. The institute has not yet asked the students to leave the campus. Students are currently attending the classes from hostels hoping that the COVID-19 situation will get better. IIM Calcutta is conducting Covid tests for students and is expected to set up testing centres on the campus.
The West Bengal higher education department had recently announced that it has permitted different institutes to decide whether to conduct exams in offline or online mode.
As of today, May 17, there are 16400 active Covid cases in India as per the data available on the ministry of health and family welfare website. Out of these active cases, 391 active Covid cases are from West Bengal.
