IIM Jammu holds 'havan' before commencing new session from permanent campus

IIM Jammu will organize a 5-day orientation programme from July 24 for the 4th, 8th, 3rd, and 2nd batches of PhD, MBA, EMBA, and MBA (HA and HM) respectively.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu commenced its academic session with a "Havan Ceremony" held at its permanent campus in Jagti, Jammu today.
The ceremony was attended by B S Sahay, director of IIM Jammu: Jabir Ali, dean of academics; Cmdr Kesavan Baskkaran (R), chief administrative officer; CA Rajat Jain FACAO, IIM Jammu, along with the faculty, officers, staff members, and students of the institute.
The ceremony was conducted by priests from the Lord Balaji temple in Jammu. IIM Jammu will also organize a five-day orientation programme from July 24 to July 31, 2023, for the fourth batch of PhD (2023-26); the eighth batch of MBA (2023-25); the third batch of EMBA (2023-25); and the second batch of MBA (HA and HM) (2023-25) at its permanent campus in Jagti, Jammu.

BS Sahay, director of IIM Jammu, said, “Havan is the best way to start the new academic session, as “Havan Yajnas” are the symbol of hope and optimism.”
“Performing Havan in the Institute before the commencement of the academic session creates a positive and auspicious atmosphere” the IIM Jammu director added.

Sahay served food to the construction workforce currently engaged in the development of the permanent campus at Jagti. The faculty, officers, and staff members gathered to pray for the smooth functioning of the institute following the "Havan Ceremony." The event continued with the chanting of mantras, and the IIM Jammu community exchanged good wishes. The ceremony concluded with prasad distribution to all attendees, followed by a communal lunch.
Jabir Ali, dean of academics, at IIM Jammu said,” The beginning of a new session is always an auspicious time.”
