NEW DELHI- The Director of Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode Prof. Debashis Chatterjee reiterated that in wake of COVID 19, candidates must focus not just on academic qualifications but also in enhancing their other skills. In a live session he addressed the queries of the students who expressed their apprehension about the placements and also with companies withdrawing their offers.

Learn something New

During the course of the live session, Prof Chatterjee emphasised that those who are either pursuing management studies or are planning to do so in the future, apart from the academic qualifications, they must try to learn new skills. It could be something like learning a new language also. According to Prof Chaterjee, post COVID 19, there will be a paradigm shift in the job market as well as on the salaries. Hence management students must not confine themselves merely to what they study in the institute.

Rigidity should be replaced by flexibility

There is a need to broaden one’s umbrella and not be rigid to do a particular thing because he or she has specialised in that field. One’s needs to explore the gamut of opportunities that are available. By being flexible does not mean that one goes for everything. However, the individual should be open about taking the challenge and exploring the opportunity that is offered in another sector. In the present scenario capability and the ability to cope are going to help an individual sail through these difficult times.
