IIM Lucknow, IIT Kanpur to launch joint PG degree in healthcare management

IIT Kanpur-IIM Lucknow: The PG course is designed to blend expertise in medical technology with business administration to drive innovation in the healthcare sector.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) joined hands with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) to launch a postgraduate programme in healthcare management. To address the growing need for leadership in the healthcare industry, the institutes developed a joint PG course by integrating management principles with advanced medical technology.
The agreement was signed on Monday by IIM Lucknow director Archana Shukla and IIT Kanpur director Manindra Agrawal, in the presence of senior faculty members.
“The Postgraduate Program in Healthcare Management will serve professionals from various fields, including healthcare workers and doctors in public hospitals. The course is designed to blend expertise in medical technology with business administration, empowering participants to spearhead advancements in healthcare delivery and innovation,” the official statement read.
The postgraduate programme will collaborate with IIT Kanpur's Centre of Excellence in Digital Health, which is “working with international institutions critical to India's healthcare landscape”. The course also aims to produce leaders equipped with skills to tackle the evolving challenges in healthcare management and to integrate cutting-edge technology into the healthcare system.

Anticipating that the partnership will enhance the healthcare management education and research, the IIM Lucknow director said: “We are thrilled to partner with IIT Kanpur to bring forth a program that combines the strengths of management and technology in addressing the complex challenges of the healthcare sector. We believe this joint program will foster innovative solutions that can significantly improve healthcare management in India and globally.”
Speaking at the event, the IIT Kanpur director said: “The postgraduate joint degree program in Healthcare Management is a key component of our Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology initiative, which seeks to enhance the integration of medical technology and innovation into our curriculum. By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, we are positioning our graduates to address the pressing challenges of healthcare with a holistic and forward-looking approach.”
