IIM Rohtak director bats for conducting CAT in regional languages

Use NowNEW DELHI - Director of Indian Institute of Management-Rohtak, Prof Dheeraj Sharma has proposed that the Common Admission Test popularly known as CAT should be conducted in regional languages as well. Presently and also in the past the CAT question paper is available in English language. The suggestion made by Prof Sharma comes at a time when the Ministry of education is mulling over imparting higher education in regional languages.
Letter to IIM Indore Director
In a letter written to the director of Indian Institute of Management, Indore, Prof Himanshu Rai, Prof Sharma urged him to take up the matter with the core committee and added that the IIMs should be at the forefront of providing facility to the students to appear for the exam in the languages which are mentioned in the eighth schedule of the constitution.

Objective of proposing regional language for CAT exam
Prof Sharma told the media persons that the main aim of proposing to conduct CAT in the regional language is to ensure that none of the students are deprived from pursuing higher education in management simply because he or she is not proficient in English.
