IISc launches BTech in Mathematics and Computing; admission through JEE Advanced 2022

IISc admission 2022 for this course will be done through JEE Advanced 2022. They can obtain MTech degree by taking an additional year, project credits.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has launched a new BTech programme in Mathematics and Computing. The institute said that the IISC admissions 2022 to the programme will be done through JEE Advanced 2022 scores.

The application process will soon begin on the IISc official website iisc.ac.in. The institute said that the 4-year programme is “uniquely curated to create leaders”.

IISc Director Govindan Rangarajan said in a video message that “IISc has launched a new BTech programme in Mathematics and Computing from August 2022. Further, by the time the students graduate from this programme, IISc would have established postgraduate (PG) medical school. So the students enrolled in this programme will be able to do projects in any branch in engineering, science or medicine.”

The institute has announced a total of 52 seats including 8 supernumerary seats for female candidates and 4 for foreign nations/NRI/OCI. Students can obtain an MTech degree by taking an additional year of course and project credits.

For the counselling process, the IISc website said, “We have approached the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) of the IITs to join with them. If successful, the application and counselling will be conducted by the JoSAA as per JoSAA business rules. Else it will take place via the IISc admissions portal.”

The institute has released the online application fee, scholarships and detailed fee structure of the BTech Mathematics and Computing programme. The deadlines and important dates for the programme will also be announced soon on the official website.

Meanwhile, explaining the programme, the institute has shared the complete course structure on the IISc website. “The core of the programme spread over four semesters includes six courses each in Mathematics and Computing areas apart from courses in the sciences, humanities, and other engineering disciplines,” it said.
