NEW DELHI, JUNE 28: IIT Bhubaneswar has started a battery-operated vehicle service as part of its initiative to promote a greener ecosystem and a pollution-free atmosphere inside its campus. The service was inaugurated by IIT Bhubaneswar Director Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar during a ceremony held at the IIT campus.
The institution will levy nominal charges for the service in a bid to make it affordable and convenient for the campus residents. Initially, three vehicles will be operational within the campus during the first phase. The service will increase the number of vehicles as per future requirements.
“We at IIT Bhubaneswar are committed to building a green campus, we have achieved a fairly good amount of success in this endeavour through our massive plantation drives, cycling culture, zero discharge designs following GRIHA norms, rain-water harvesting, and the same will continue. It gives me happiness to share with all that we have added yet another dimension to our initiatives,” said Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar on the initiation of the battery-operated vehicle service.
Maini Materials Movement, the institution’s service partner, will operate and maintain the vehicles within the campus. Maini Materials Movement is a premium brand in material-movement and in-campus electric mobility solutions based in Bangalore.
