NEW DELHI, MAY 22: IIT Bhubaneswar observed anti-terrorism day on May 21 to educate and sensitize the students about the menace of terrorism. The students and faculty together took a pledge to "fight the forces of disruption threatening human lives and values."

The objective behind observance of this day was to spread awareness on the cult of violence by highlighting the sufferings that the victims had to endure. The event continuously underlined the damaging effects of terrorism on humanity and human interests.

“Our country believes in the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, a philosophy that tries to foster an understanding that the whole of humanity is one family... As a premier technical institution of the country, we can also help develop effective technologies which can help to detect and counter terrorist activities well in advance.,” said Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, in his address to the audience.

The event assumed significance in light of the deplorable terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and Sri Lanka.
