IIT Bhubaneswar observes Digital India day, exhibits research on digital technology

NEW DELHI, JULY 3: IIT Bhubaneswar observed the 5th anniversary of Government of India’s Digital India scheme by showcasing its research and development work on digital technologies at an event conducted at its campus.
The research and development work that was on display at the event focused on industry-relevant topics like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT), Digitial Image Correlation, and 5G cellular. The event also held several live demonstrations to display the efficacy of the products.
The institute’s Center of Excellence in Virtual and Augmented Reality for Immersive Visualization (VARCoE), the School of Electrical Sciences and the Design and Innovation Center leads the research and development work on digital technologies.
Speaking at the event, Prof. R.V. Rajakumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, emphasized the need for cross-disciplinary research and development to fulfil the needs of Industry and talked about the importance of new age technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), AI, IoT and 5G communication for serving the needs of the modern society and to realize the Digital India dream.
VARCoE is a dedicated department that focuses on carrying out research and development in AR, VR, technology incubation and entrepreneurship.
