IIT Bombay launches ePostgraduate diploma in interaction design for working professionals; eligibility

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay’s IDC School of Design has launched the ePostgraduate Diploma in Interaction Design (ePGD IxD) for working professionals. The IIT Bombay’s ePGD IxD allows professionals to take courses at their own pace. Each course provides 6 to 12 credits, and candidates can claim the diploma once they earn 36 or more. As per IIT Bombay, credits can also be stored in the Academic Bank of Credits for future use in other programmes.

The Monsoon course on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), running since 2000, has now been integrated into the ePGD IxD programme under the course title “Design of Interactive Products.” The first session of this 12-credit course will take place in person from March 17 to April 1. The IIT Bombay HCI course is open for registration.

Course offerings and modes of delivery

The IIT Bombay programme includes seven additional courses such as qualitative research methods in design, quantitative research methods in design, human factors in interaction design, introduction to virtual and augmented reality, game design principles and practice, data visualization, and theoretical perspectives in design. These courses will be available in in-person, online, or hybrid formats.

IIT Bombay ePGD In Interaction Design: Eligibility criteria

Applicants are required to hold an undergraduate degree in disciplines such as design, engineering, architecture, fine arts, applied arts, or ergonomics. Candidates who hold degrees in other fields can also apply if they have at least three years of industry experience in roles such as UI, UX design, web development, product management, or related fields.

The IIT Bombay's ePostgraduate programme is designed for interaction designers, UI/UX professionals, software developers, IT quality professionals, product managers, and faculty members interested in teaching interaction design and related subjects. The registration is now open for all courses.

Fee structure

Course fees are based on the number of credits, with a 6-credit course costing Rs 1,22,272, an 8-credit course Rs 1,63,029. Meanwhile, a 12-credit course will cost Rs 2,44,543 including GST. The total cost for completing 36 credits amounts to approximately Rs 7.34 lakhs.

Fees are paid per course rather than all together for the entire programme. As per the IIT Bombay’s official website, costs include course materials, lunch, and tea but exclude travel and accommodation expenses.
