Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi inaugurated the Binny Bansal Exhibition Hall on March 30, 2026. The ceremony was attended by Binny Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart and an alumnus of the institute, along with faculty, students, and senior officials.

The hall has been named to honour Bansal’s continued support and contributions to the institute over the years. His association with IIT Delhi has gone beyond academics, helping strengthen its innovation and learning ecosystem.

Speaking at the event, Bansal recalled his time at IIT Delhi and how it shaped his journey. He said, "IIT Delhi is where it all began for me. I hope this exhibition hall becomes a space where students dare to imagine the future, showcase their ideas, and realise that the next great company or invention can begin right here on this campus. My warmest wishes to every student, faculty member, and staff who make IIT Delhi the extraordinary place it is.”

A familiar space with a new purpose

The exhibition hall is located in the main administrative building and holds emotional value for many alumni, as it once served as an examination hall. Over time, it has been redesigned into a modern space meant for collaboration, exhibitions, and student activities.

With this transformation, IIT Delhi aims to create more spaces that support creativity and hands-on learning. The hall is expected to host a range of academic displays and student-led initiatives, making it an active part of campus life.

This hall, named in his honour, is a lasting tribute to his vision and philanthropy, one that will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for students for decades to come. On behalf of the entire IIT Delhi community, I extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Bansal for his continued belief in the Institute."
