NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati saw a significant increase in pre-placement offers (PPOs) this year. The students of IIT Guwahati received as many as 179 PPOs mostly from information technology (IT)/ software, finance, analyst, and product profiles. This is the highest in the last three years.
Industries are recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic-infused economic hurdles. As a result, there has been a rise in demand leading to an increase in the number of companies participating in campus placement.
The academic batch of 2020-21 and 2019-20 of IIT Guwahati received a total of 133 PPOs. The institute also said that no sector has been affected, with the core profile remaining stagnant as compared to last year.
“Team CCD is very excited and geared up for this year placement, which will be in completely virtual model.”Abhishek Kumar, head of Centre for Career Development (CCD), IIT Guwahati said while speaking about the IIT Guwahati placements for the current academic year of 2021-22.
The hiring trend has been increasing especially for technical roles compared to last year. More companies are providing PPO offers through internships for technical roles. Additionally, data science and quant profiles have seen a large number of openings.

IIT Guwahati had received international offers from Japan during the academic year 2020-21. A higher number of offers are expected this time.
