IIT Guwahati sees 21% increase in pre-placement offers; highest at Rs 1.2 crore

IIT Guwahati records 21 percent increase in overall pre-placement offers and their all-time highest offer of Rs 1.2 crore in 2022-23.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati registers an 21% increase in pre-placement offers (PP) 2022-23 as compared to last year. The Institute has received 218 PPOs this academic year so far.

The PPOs will continue till the commencement of the phase one of campus placements at IIT Guwahati on December 1, 2022. The Institute sees a rise in hiring trends in technical roles through internship programmes and pre-placement talks arranged by the centre for career development of IIT Guwahati for the students.

IIT Guwahati has received the highest offer of Rs 1.20 crore recorded till date. This number has doubled since Rs 56 Lakh being the highest in 2021-22.

As of November 14, 2022, the Institute reported a total of 218 PPOs out of which Microsoft has 26 offers; Oracle has 20; JP Morgan has 14; Samsung Research-Bangalore has 10 while BNY Mellon, Goldman Sachs, Google and Sprinklr have made 9 pre-placement offers.

Multinational corporations including Accenture, Adobe, Amazon, Bajaj Auto Ltd, Barclays, BNY Mellon, Cisco, DeShaw, Flipkart, GE Health Care, Goldman Sachs, Google, IBM, JP Morgan, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, among others, participated in the IIT Guwahati pre-placements.

Explaining the factors behind the increase in PPOs this year, IIT Guwahati, centre for career development head, Abhishek Kumar, said: “Major companies have started showing more interest in recruiting candidates through PPO mode and this has shown increasing trend for the last couple of years. We organized webinars in order to help students to gain insights about the fields and aid to their preparation. Along with this, we collaborated with technical clubs to help students reach the relevant study and course material for specific profiles resulting in increase in the PPOs this year.”
