IIT Hyderabad Placement 2026: 62% of registered students get placed in Phase 1. Top branches, including CSE, AI, and Mathematics, see 78–83% placement, with 24 international offers.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad completed Phase 1 of the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) 2026 placement season, with 304 students placed out of 487 registered candidates. This resulted in an overall placement rate of 62.42 per cent, as per data released by the institute after the first phase of placements ended.
The average cost to company (CTC) for the BTech 2026 batch crossed Rs 30 lakh per annum during Phase 1. Several departments recorded an increase in average and median salary figures over previous cycles. Recruiters participated across software, analytics, and core engineering roles during the initial phase of placements.
According to IIT Hyderabad, placement outcomes differed across academic programmes. Among the circuital branches, the Artificial Intelligence programme recorded a placement rate of 83.33 per cent.
Computer Science and Engineering placed 83.05 per cent of registered students, while Mathematics and Computing recorded a placement rate of 77.78 per cent. The average salary packages offered in these programmes were reported to be around Rs 40 lakh per annum.
Core engineering branches also recorded placements in Phase 1. Departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, placed students across manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and technology-linked sectors. The institute stated that recruitment activity continued across both core and software-oriented roles.

As per the institute, the highest international offer during phase 1 reached Rs 2.5 crore per annum. On the domestic side, two students secured offers of Rs 1.1 crore per annum. Four students received domestic packages ranging between Rs 75 lakh and Rs 1 crore per annum. In total, 24 international offers were made across departments.
“The season saw maximum international compensation touching ₹2.5 crore per annum. On the domestic front, two students secured offers of ₹1.1 crore, while four students received offers in the ₹75 lakh to ₹1 crore range. In total, 24 international offers were made across departments,” IIT Hyderabad said.
Phase 2 of the IIT Hyderabad’s BTech 2026 placement season starts today, January 5, 2026. The institute states that the second phase is focused on placing the remaining interested students, while a section of candidates has opted out of the placement process to pursue higher education and research programmes.
Alongside placements, the BTech 2027 internship season is currently underway. The institute said that 279 internship offers have been made so far, including 15 international internships. Monthly stipends have gone up to Rs 7.5 lakh, reflecting early recruitment trends for the upcoming placement cycle.
