IIT Jodhpur to offer BTech in civil and infrastructure engineering from 2020-21

NEW DELHI: The department of civil and infrastructure engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has decided to offer undergraduate programs in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering from the academic year 2020-2021.

Students can opt for a regular BTech program or a BTech with specialization, for specialization, students need to acquire extra credits from a list of specialization courses. For the upcoming academic session, two specialization streams will be offered by the department–Environmental Engineering and Smart Infrastructure.

As per the release issued by the institute, the department is making a stride to reimagine the course structure that integrates and incorporates the elements of conventional civil engineering with advanced transformative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber-Physical System (CPS), and Digital Twins (DT).

“The course structure will also help students to have a thorough understanding of green and sustainable materials, practices, and principles for designing resilient infrastructure systems using safe methodologies coupled with advanced technologies such as AI, DT, CPS, and Internet of Things (IoT),” reads the IIT Jodhpur statement.
