NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur’s Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) has organised a comprehensive ten-day awareness programme aimed at promoting technology prototypes in and around Kanpur and the National Capital Region.
The 10-day awareness programmes aimed at creating awareness about the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Innovative scheme and promote technology interventions among aspiring MSMEs, innovators, budding entrepreneurs, and young minds looking to start their businesses.

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has acknowledged SIIC, IIT Kanpur as the Implementing Agency for the "Design" sub-component of the MSME Innovative Scheme.
The programmes, as per an IIT Kanpur statement, attracted participants from over 250 MSMEs, including budding innovators, early-stage MSMEs, and established enterprises from various industrial hubs and MSME clusters. The programmes garnered enthusiastic participation from the participants, who presented their ideas that hold the potential to be converted into marketable products.
The statement further added that the government is making efforts to bolster the MSME sector by establishing institutions and developing a roadmap to overcome hurdles and drive growth.

Under the scheme in 2020 -2022 FY, the Ministry of MSME has identified and recognized five enterprises -- Kanpur Flowercycling Pvt. Ltd. (KFPL) (Phool. Co), Jalconserve Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Primary Healthtech Pvt. Ltd, Cultech Wave Pvt. Ltd and Biocraft Innovation Pvt. Ltd.
The shortlisted enterprises have been actively involved in developing sustainable prototypes that aim to foster the establishment of both toy and non-toy clusters featuring innovative designs. Moreover, in the current fiscal year (2022-23), the Ministry of MSME and IIT Kanpur have extended support to nine micro-enterprises to execute pioneering design projects. These enterprises have been selected under the design component of the MSME Innovation Scheme, thereby reflecting the government's commitment to promoting innovation and growth in the MSME sector.
