IIT Kharagpur Placement 2024-25: Over 1,000 offers by day 3; highest package, major recruiters

IIT Kharagpur Placement 2024: The highest package recorded till day 2 stands at Rs 2.14 crore.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur placement drive for phase 1 commenced on December 1. The IIT Kharagpur phase-I placement drive for the academic batch 2024-25 achieved a milestone by securing over 1,000 placement offers by December 3, 2024 (Day 3). By the end of day 2, the institute had recorded more than 800 offers, including pre-placement offers, from organizations worldwide.
According to an official release by IIT Kharagpur, several companies that visited the campus for internships in July 2024 have also registered for the placement process. Interviews are being conducted in a hybrid format, with many companies opting for in-person interaction.

IIT Kharagpur Placement 2024: Offers from diverse sectors
The companies across sectors such as high-frequency trading, software, analytics, finance, banking, and consulting have offered roles to IIT Kharagpur students during the placement drive. The early phase of the process has also seen participation from several core engineering firms. Additionally, the Career Development Centre (CDC) has maintained its global presence, with students securing 20 international offers so far.
Rajib Maity, chairperson of CDC at IIT Kharagpur , expressed gratitude for the administration's continued support and the efforts of the placement committee. He emphasized confidence in the CDC vice chairpersons and the vice president of Student Gymkhana to assist students participating in the ongoing placement drive, which typically extends until the end of the academic year.
IIT Kharagpur Placement 2024 Phase 1: Highest package stands at Rs 2.14 crore
On the second day of IIT Kharagpur's 2024-25 placement drive, a significant number of roles were offered across sectors such as software, analytics, finance, banking, consulting, and core engineering. As of 6 pm, students secured 13 international job offers, with 9 individuals receiving salary packages exceeding Rs 1 crore.
As per sources, IITs decided not to reveal highest packag e during the 2024-2025 placement season, to alleviate stress caused by high-package expectations. A student from IIT Bombay’s placement team confirmed the decision to Careers360, citing concerns about psychological pressure on students due to media coverage of crore-plus packages. Officials from IIT Patna and IIT Roorkee also verified the move, stating that only overall placement statistics, such as median and average salaries, will be disclosed. Despite this, the IIT Kharagpur has announced the highest package till day 2 stands at Rs 2.14 crore.

IIT Kharagpur's placement 2024-25 commenced with over 750 offers on the first day. On the first day of IIT Kharagpur placement 2024 phase 1, companies such as Apple, Capital One, DE Shaw, Google, Microsoft, and others participated, offering a good number of opportunities. As per IIT Kharagpur, major recruiters, including Microsoft, Qualcomm, Flipkart, and Mastercard, extended numerous offers to students.
VK Tewari, director, IIT Kharagpur said, “Even when the current placement season is slow, IIT Kharagpur stands tall with more than 750 offers on the first day of placement period, is itself a manifestation of the testimony for preparing leaders who will contribute to the nation building. The influx of companies in this competitive job market upholds the academic legacy of the first IIT in the world. This year’s placements further emphasize the quality of our education, the relentless hard work of our students, and the trust that leading organizations have in our institution. We look forward to a successful continuation of the placement process in the upcoming phases."
