IIT Madras, IIM Ahmedabad incubated company to train one lakh engineering students in Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI: GUVI, a company incubated by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM Ahmedabad), has launched a free-of-cost initiative to train one lakh engineering students in Tamil Nadu.

GUVI has partnered with the ‘Naan Mudhavan’ project of the state government to train the students through a series of hackathons. The initiative ‘Naan Mudhalvan-Tamil Nadu Coders Premier League’ (NM-TNcpl) is a series of online and offline hackathons that will be conducted over three months. These will provide a platform to engineering students of the state to exhibit their coding skills while gaining valuable upskilling opportunities.

Participants will also gain access to free premium courses from GUVI. Students qualifying for level 1 will receive mentorship from experts in top companies. GUVI will also shortlist top-performing teams, which will then be given a platform to showcase their talents in technology and programming.

Cash prizes, internships

Besides learning and competing experience, several students will also get the opportunity to win cash prizes and internships. The NM-TNcpl has top companies and market leaders as hiring partners, providing students valuable exposure to potential employers in the tech industry, GUVI said.

The KSR Educational Institutions in Tiruchengode, and Annapoorana Engineering College in Salem, have partnered with GUVI to be the nodal centres of the NM-TNcpl.
