IIT Madras to organise entrepreneurship summit; Over 5,000 students to participate

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras will be holding the eighth edition of its annual ‘Entrepreneurship Summit’ from April 7 to 9, 2023. The summit will be held in physical mode and will will cater to over 800 start-ups in with participation from over 400 colleges across India.

IIT Madras' entrepreneurship summit is the first-ever student-run entrepreneurial event that has received all ISO, G20, and UNESCO Certifications. The event will be featuring 35 investors, 40 speakers, and more than 50 events spread across four conclaves – youth conclave, innovators’ conclave, start-up conclave, and sustainability conclave.

The event will witness 640 start-ups participating in the ‘Innovators Conclave’ with another 400 participating in the ‘Start-up Conclave'; Youth Conclave has recorded around 2,900 registrations; Sustainability Conclave has received over 600 ecological and entrepreneurial ideas toward sustainability.

The summit will also bring the sixth edition of the pan-India pan-India fund-raising competition, ‘Elevate,’ featuring 300 startups from various domains. This event brings eminent start-ups and venture capital firms with a combined ticket size of Rs 25 crore. This year also marked the eighth edition of IIT Madras' startup accelerator programme that featured 500 early-stage startups in fintech, web3.0, energy and environment, agritech, and sector agnostics.

Highlighting the newer additions introduced to the event this year, IIT Madras' E-cell student head, Nishant Gudipaty said: “In this edition of E-Summit, we have curated special events, masterclasses, and workshops for all baskets of the audience, including school students and rural entrepreneurs, along with our primary audience, to instil the spirit of entrepreneurship in everyone."

While speaking about the unique aspects of E-Summit 2023, IIT Madras, E-Cell faculty advisor Ashwin Mahalingam, said: “India's entrepreneurship story is now gathering steam. It is no longer about learning but sharing, debating, and discussing entrepreneurial strategies. This is exactly what this year's E-summit is, with its assemblage of change-makers, aims to do.”
