IIT Madras waives Zanzibar campus application fee for female candidates; apply by today

IIT Zanzibar Campus Admissions: Women candidates will have to fill the application form by 3 pm today to get the fee waiver.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has announced application fee waiver for women candidates applying for the engineering programmes offered by its Zanzibar campus. The application fee will be waived only if the female students fill the application form for IIT Zanzibar admissions by 3 pm today, August 4. The registration process will end tomorrow, August 5, for all candidates.
The institute is offering BSc and MTech programmes in data science and artificial intelligence in its IIT Zanzibar campus . Students can apply for on the official website, zanzibar.iitm.ac.in.
The institute made the announcement as a part of its presentation on encouraging women in STEM in the G20 meeting on women empowerment. “IIT Madras is happy to participate in the #G20 ministerial convention on women’s empowerment in Gandhinagar during August 2-4, 2023. As a small gesture in light of our presentation in the “Education in STEM” session, we are pleased to announce application fee waivers to women candidates applying to our IITM Zanzibar programs,” the institute said in a social media post.

IIT Madras said that it hopes to see a good percentage of women in its offshore campus programmes.
Sharing the announcement, IIT Zanzibar director-in-charge Preeti Aghalayam said, “I had a very interesting time recently as part of the #G20 convention on women's empowerment at Gandhinagar. When I spoke in the Education in STEM session, I discussed what institutions can do to encourage women in STEM.”
The director encouraged women candidates to consider the international campus and added “Sometimes, it is the small simple things that matter. This announcement is one such. I strongly encourage women students interested in a STEM career, to consider our Zanzibar campus option.”
