IIT Mandi hosts Himachal Pradesh 30th children's science congress

The theme of 30th children’s science congress was 'understanding ecosystem for heath and well being.' The event was held from December 31 to January 3.

NEW DELHI: The Himachal Pradesh council for science, technology and environment (HIMCOSTE) conducted 30th children’s science congress at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi campus from December 31, 2022 to January 3, 2023.

The theme for this year's children’s science congress was 'understanding ecosystem for heath and well being.' The four-day event had activities such as science quiz, mathematics olympiad, science activity corner, scientific project report, science skit, and innovative science models. The 16 best scientific reports from the event will be competing on a national level at the children’s science congress in Ahmedabad and Gujarat at the end of January 2023.

The chief guest for the closing ceremony was Himachal Pradesh, member of legislative assembly, Rajesh Dharmani. Other dignitaries present at the congress were- Mandi, director, elementary education, Amarnath Rana; Mandi, deputy director, elementary education Una, Devinder Chandel; HIMCOSTE, principal scientific officer, SS Randhawa; Mandi, district science supervisor, Ashok Walia; children’s science congress, senior scientific officer and coordinator, Dipshika Gaur; HP science master association, president, women wing, Shalu Parmar, and Satinder Sharma and Tushar Jain from IIT Mandi.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Himachal Pradesh, member of legislative assembly, Rajesh Dharmani, said: “The students should work hard than the expectations then it will become possible to achieve anything in life. One should set big goals and strive to achieve them. Being all-rounder is very important in today’s world and to become more successful in life. Teachers should do Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis for all the students individually and help them realize their passion and talent. HIMCOSTE will soon have a platform where the students should be able to put all their doubts.”

While talking about the Science Congress, HIMCOSTE, Additional Secretary, environment science and technology and joint member secretary, Satpal Dhiman, said: “HP Children’s Science Congress has been conducted at IIT Mandi to motivate students to pursue their careers in science and technology.”
