IIT Patna PhD admission begins at iitp.ac.in; Application fee, eligibility criteria

Candidates can apply for PhD admission to IIT Patna after fulfilling the eligibility requirements which are detailed here. The last date to apply is April 17, 2023.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has opened the online application window for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme, starting in July 2023. Interested and eligible candidates can fill out the IIT Patna PhD admission 2023 application form through the official website-iitp.ac.in.
The PhD admission is open in the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Science, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering and Physics departments.

IIT Patna PhD admission 2023: Minimum eligibility criteria
- In all the disciplines, the upper age limit is 28 years (BTech, BS, BE, MSc, MA, MCA, MBA) for JRF and 32 years (MTech, ME, MS, MPhil) for SRF to be calculated as on the last date of application and is applicable only for candidates applying in the regular and full-time category, as Institute Fellow.
- For research or project fellows, the age limit will be as per the funding agency norms. In absence of any age criteria, the institute norms will be followed.
- Valid GATE score as applicable from time to time is a pre-requisite for Institute Fellow (IF).
- The eligibility criteria are relaxed by five percent marks or 0.5 CPI for SC and ST applicants.
- The upper age limit is relaxed up to five years in case of candidates belonging to Sc, ST, OBC and Physically Handicapped candidates.

IIT Patna PhD admission 2023: Selection Process
- IIT Patna will call a limited number of candidates for a test or interview, based on performance in GATE or NET, marks in the qualifying examination, shortlisting criteria etc.
- Fulfilling minimum eligibility criteria do not guarantee a call for a test or interview.
