The 2025–26 recruitment drive recorded a 54.34% BTech placement rate in phase 1, with top companies hiring across software, AI, data science, and other fields.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has completed phase 1 of its Bachelor of Technology (BTech) placement season for the year 2026, with 400 students securing job offers. The overall placement rate was 54.34%, according to data released by the institute after the conclusion of phase 1.
The average cost to the company (CTC) for BTech 2026 students has increased to Rs 25.82 lakhs per annum in phase 1, a 17.66% increase compared to the previous year, as per the official notification.
MTech students also saw an increase, with the average CTC going above Rs 16.20 lakh per year, up 7.32% from last year. Several departments recorded an increase in average and median salary figures over previous cycles.

Students were offered a variety of roles, including software development engineer, system software engineer, product engineer, data scientist, machine learning engineer, generative AI engineer, desk quant analyst, consultant, and business analyst.
Top recruiters this season included Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, BEL, BPCL, C-DOT, Samsung, Optum, L&T, Reliance, Sprinklr, Media.net, and Tata Advanced Systems, as per the IIT Patna placement report.
In the 2026 placement cycle, there has been a significant increase in hiring by major companies and public sector undertakings in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and automotive.
The Director of IIT Patna, TN Singh, Registrar AK Thakur, Associate Dean (Resources) NK Tomar, Co-Chair of CCTC Rishabh Singh, and other faculty members congratulated the students, praised their achievements, and emphasised the institution's commitment to enhancing career opportunities, the placement report added.
The second phase of IIT Patna's placement drive is scheduled to resume in mid-January 2026.
