IIT Patna sees 223 job offers in record placements despite COVID-19

NEW DELHI: India Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna is seeing record placements for the year 2020-2021 with 223 offers. The number is the highest till now, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, a statement from the institute said.

This ongoing placement drive has already seen offers rise by 10.39% from the preceding 2019-20 session’s.

Fifty new recruiters from various domains are participating in the current session. The highest package offered this year is Rs 54.57 lakh per annum and Rs 52.50 lakh per annum for BTech and MTech students respectively.

The maximum number of placements was done under the information technology (IT) sector followed by the core sector. The jobs were mainly given in the areas of software engineering, technology consulting, analytics, research and development, graduate engineering trainee, data engineering, and associate engineering.

IIT Patna: Internships to jobs

Many companies are converting the interns into full time employees. IIT Patna saw a 45 percent rise in internship offers, or pre-placement offers (PPOs).

As many as 83 BTech students have received internship offers on-campus as compared to 57 at the end of previous season, with an increase of 45%. The internship season is still ongoing and the numbers are expected to rise further, the statement said.

Diversity hiring

This year it has been seen that there is an increase in diversity hiring with many companies adopting diversity hiring processes for female and physically disabled candidates. Companies such as Salesforce, Nvidia, Intuit etc. have conducted diversity hiring.

Prominent recruiters for internships included DE Shaw, Codenation, Google India, Commvault, Goldman Sachs,Intel, iRage Capital, Newzera, Samsung Bangalore, Media.net etc.

IIT Patna promotes entrepreneurship and encourages students to explore this emerging field through different mentorship programmes and flagship events.
