IIT Roorkee introduced “Prof OD Thapar Endowed Lecture Series”

NEW DELHI, APRIL 25: IIT Roorkee introduced “Prof OD Thapar Endowed Lecture Series” in the honour of Prof. OD Thapar who is the founding Head of Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy (formerly Alternate Hydro Energy Centre-AHEC), IIT Roorkee (1984 – 1986).
The first lecture of Prof OD Thapar Endowed Lecture Series by Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) - a distinguished alumnus of IITR (1979 batch), took place to discuss the rapid changes in the Indian Electricity Sector.
Prof. OD Thapar himself was present at the launch of the lecture series which was organised by Prof Sunil Kumar Singal, Head, Hydro and Renewable Energy Department.
Talking about the event Prof. O.D. Thapar said “The endowed lecture series by IIT Roorkee is a wonderful initiative. It provides an ideal platform for young minds to interact with the leading experts in various domains. I felt humbled, grateful and privileged by the honour bestowed on me by IIT Roorkee and the Department of hydro and renewable energy. Dr Mathur‘s inaugural lecture was a brilliant elucidation of the progress and challenges in the area of electricity generation and consumption I am sure IIT Roorkee will apply itself to meet these challenges in the future.”

Faculty and students of IIT Roorkee, Engineers from Uttarakhand Irrigation Department, Jal Vidhut Nigam Ltd. and several other organizations actively participated in this lecture.
