IITs, IISERs to counsel nearby schools in Science & Maths

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 18, 2019: Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar in an exhibition organized under the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit highlighted the importance of maths, science, engineering and technology in 21st century and that of supporting search tendency among primary school students. As per media reports, Javadekar said that the IITs, IISERs and Universities will guide the schools located near their campus area to ensure that students in those schools are given proper training in science and maths so that they do not lag behind.

He further said that an interesting way should be used to teach Maths to make students understand it in a proper manner and be confident with the subject. Simple methods must be used to teach and cultivate the interest in these subjects. This can be done with the help of right pedagogy and primary school teachers can play a vital role in this regard.

He also pointed out that once students lag behind in the field of maths or science then this gap keeps increasing over time. Therefore, it is important to guide schools on how to explain science and mathematics to students.

The reports stated that the Indian government will increase its investment in research which will create a good atmosphere for science, engineering, technology, mathematics, research in schools. It will also encourage students to find solutions to the problems in society.
