New Delhi: In conversation with Careers360, the Director General of National Testing Agency (NTA), Vineet Joshi has confirmed that the agency has been looking at the possibility to make the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test- NEET a computer-based test (CBT). The conversation according to him has been ongoing with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in this regard. It may be remembered that NEET was supposed to be a computer-based test when NTA had taken it over but the proposal was shelved by the MoHFW.

NEET exams in CBT mode in future?
“We are in constant touch with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), to look at the possibility to make NEET online. There are many stakeholders and their opinions have to be considered. We are hoping that in the times to come, we will see that happening”, said Vineet Joshi.
NEET is held for admission to all MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other colleges across the nation. For the medical entrance exam to go online, the ministry has to take all the stakeholders on board for this decision because unlike JEE, it is the single entrance exam for medical admissions.
As per Joshi, in terms of logistics, organizing the CBT exams is always easier than conducting Pen and Paper mode (P&P) exams. "The online tests come with certain advantages and if NEET goes online then it can also be conducted more than once a year", he said.
Safety measures for NEET aspirants
On May 15, the authorities had reopened the correction window for NEET, wherein medical aspirants can change the exam cities till May 31. In the conversation, Joshi has also confirmed that special safety measures will also be taken for the aspirants appearing for the examination. Aspirants, as well as, parents do not have to worry about safety, rather focus on the preparations.
The exact official date for the admit card of NEET will also be announced after the lockdown will be lifted. The admit card will be released 21 days before the examination and will be available on official website ntaneet.nic.in, said Joshi.
