Indian Institute of Art and Design introduces four new programmes

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Design (IIAD) has introduced four new degree programmes in product design, user experience design, animation film design and luxury business management for the academic session 2025-26. With the new design courses, the institute aims to address the growing need of contemporary design and management practices.

Giving an insight into the fresh courses, IIAD explained that the four-year animation film design offers a comprehensive curriculum ranging from traditional hand-drawn animation to digital film design. The programme provides essential skills such as 2D and 3D animation, storytelling, motion graphics and narrative development.

The institute listed its top animation projects which included animation for the National Museum, projection mapping for the Martyr Memorial Museum in Hussainiwala led by communication design students specializing in animation film design. Nanki Ghuman, a recent communication design graduate, gained recognition for her award-winning documentary Patangarh Ka Hero from the Mokkho International Film Festival and Chitrashaala: A Short Film Festival on Rural India.

IIAD's new programmes

The UX design programme focuses on problem-solving and hands-on learning. It integrates technologies including AI and AR/VR to develop inclusive solutions. The curriculum comprises information design, interface design, data visualisation, system design and digital product development.

The product design programme emphasizes hands-on learning, inquiry and industry engagement, allowing aspiring designers to develop their unique design perspectives.

The luxury business management course includes features like luxury symposiums, ensuring students gain practical insights into luxury business operations. With a curriculum that focuses on sustainability and ethical AI practices, alongside opportunities for international exposure in cities like Milan and Paris, the course prepares students to scale luxury brands globally while addressing the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry.
