Earlier, the Delhi government had announced the cancellation of final year examinations due to increasing cases of COVID-19 in Delhi and across the country. The examinations will be conducted in offline mode.
Some of the students are concerned with the mode of offline examination as they are worried this might expose them to coronavirus infection. Samrat Singh, a final year student of GGSIP University, said: “Delhi is experiencing an extreme spike in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths have increased. In this scenario our university’s decision to hold final year exams in September is inhumane.”
The university will announce the date-sheet on September 11. As per a notice released by the university, it will conduct the examinations in pen and paper mode (offline) across all affiliated centres and colleges of the university in Delhi region.
It has also asked students to get themselves prepared for the examination which would commence in the fourth week of September.
However, on September 9, Delhi recorded over 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 infection, the highest single-day increase since June 23. This has also pushed the cumulative tally to over two lakh cases in Delhi. Over the past week alone Delhi has recorded more than 2,800 new cases per day.
