NEW DELHI: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that the registration process for the 'Young Scientist Programme' will begin on February 20, 2024. ISRO Young Scientist programme aims introduce young students to emerging trends in space science and technology. The ISRO Young Scientist registration window will close on March 20, 2024.

The ISRO Young Scientist programme will inspire students to pursue careers in in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related fields.

In an attempt to "catch them young", ISRO has introduced the educational initiative. Interested students will be able to apply for the YUva VIgyani KAryakram (Young Scientist Programme) at jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/yuvika.

"YUva VIgyani KAryakram (Young Scientist Programme) - 2024 is now open for enrollment. Students in standard 9 (as of January 1, 2024), studying in India, are eligible to apply. Registration begins on February 20, 2024, at jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/yuvika," ISRO on X said.

The first selection list For ISRO Young Scientist programme for will be issued on March 28, 2024. The selection of participants in YUVIKA 2024 will done on the basis of marks scored in Class 8 exams, performance in the online quiz, participation in science fair (school, district, state and above level in last 3 years), rank in Olympiad or equivalent.

"The initiative seeks to motivate more students to seek out careers and engage in research within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)," ISRO added.

Students can follow the steps given below to register for ISRO Young Scientist programme.

  • Enroll on the ISRO Antariksha Jigyasa platform, jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/registration.
  • Participate in the SpaceQuiz, ensuring you carefully review the quiz guidelines before taking the quiz.
  • Complete your personal and education details.
  • Upload both the photocopy of attested certificates and the certificate for verification on the website
  • Generate your certificate for verification, endorsed by your principal
  • Upload your documents and click on submit.
