NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced 2024) exam date is clashing with the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT 2024) session 1 exams. IIT Madras in November 2023 announced to conduct the JEE Adv 2024 exam on May 26 for admission at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

In a notification dated January 15, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani informed that session 1 of the entrance exam for admission to BE, BPharm, and MSc programmes will be held from May 21 to 26. The last date of which is clashing with the JEE Advanced exam 2024. There is no update on the postponement of JEE Advanced or BITSAT exam 2024 yet.

Notably, the BITSAT 2024 session 2 is scheduled from June 22-26. Aspirants have also expressed concern about the BITSAT session 2 as it will be taking place after the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process, which will tentatively commence on June 10.

BITS Pilani will close the registration process for the entrance exam on April 11, whereas IIT Madras will begin the application process on April 21.

Male students who wish to apply for both BITSAT session 1 and 2 will have to pay a hefty amount of Rs 5,400 and female students will have to deposit Rs 4,400. BITS is charging the same application fee as last year, however, several students have compared it with other engineering entrance exams, wherein they have to pay a maximum of Rs 1,000 per person.

The registration fee for JEE Advanced 2024 has also been increased from Rs 2,900 to Rs 3,200 for general category candidates. On the other hand, SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates will have to pay Rs 1,600.

As per the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2024, the top 2,50,000 candidates in various categories based on their performance in JEE Main 2024 BE, BTech paper will be eligible to apply.

A day ago, IIT Madras introduced the sports quota for admission to undergraduate (UG) programmes. Students who have qualified in the JEE Main 2024 and have won at least one medal in any national or international-level sports competition in the last four years will be considered under ‘Sports Excellence Admission’ (SEA).
