NEW DELHI, JANUARY 9: JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 for January session has commenced across 467 centres in 258 test cities and 9 abroad as computer-based test. National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the  exam from January 9 to 12 in two shifts; forenoon shift (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and afternoon shift (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). Over 9.2 lakh engineering aspirants have registered for the JEE Main Paper 1. The test is being conducted for those candidates who have successfully filled up the JEE Main 2019 application form in online mode.

The reporting time for the forenoon shift was 7:30 am and candidates reaching after 9:20 were not allowed entry as the gates were closed. Candidates are required to carry their admit card of JEE Main 2019 Paper-1 along with one of the photo identity proofs - PAN card/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport/Aadhaar Enrolment Number/Ration Card/Aadhaar Card (With photograph).

JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 will comprise of multiple choice objective type questions based on Maths, Chemistry, and Physics having equal weightage in the total of 360 marks. Four marks will be awarded for every correct answer and for the incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted. No marks will be given for unattempted questions.

The afternoon shift will commence from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

After the exam, the JEE Main Paper 1 answer key will be released by the coaching institutions before the official answer key by NTA. The result of JEE Main Paper 1 will be declared tentatively on January 31, 2019 in online mode. Based on the result of JEE Main Paper 1, candidates will get eligibility for admission to BE/B.Tech courses in NITs, IITs and CFTIs.
