JEE Main 2023: Bombay High Court to hear 75 percent eligibility plea today

NEW DELHI: The Bombay High Court will hear the plea to relax the JEE Main 2023 75 percent eligibility criteria for candidates today, April 6. Bombay High Court Chief Justice SV Gangapurwala and Justice Sandeep V Marne will hear the petition. JEE Main 2023 Exam Live Updates

Earlier, the petitioner requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to remove the 75 percent eligibility criteria to qualify for the exam.

The PIL reads, “The marks scored by them is not a true reflection of their actual ability therefore those students with less marks than the eligibility criteria (75%) for this year’s examinations can score very high marks in the upcoming JEE Main 2023, and if a fair chance is denied to them that will affect the future (of) lakhs of bright (students)”.

The matter on the JEE Main 75 percent eligibility relaxation was earlier heard on March 1 and the next hearing was set for today.

During the Covid pandemic, the eligibility criterion was removed. However, the IITs have now brought again the eligibility criteria of 75 percent marks in Class 12 board exams for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. As per the JEE Main 2023 information brochure, candidates should have secured at least 75 percent in their Class 12 board exams (for the general category) or should be within the category-wise top 20 percentile.

Meanwhile, the JEE Main 2023 session 2 exams started from today. The exams will be held in two shifts. Shift 1 is from 9 am to 12 noon and shift 2 is from 3 pm to 6 pm.
