Try NowNEW DELHI: The Bombay High Court today refused to postpone JEE Main 2023 exam and said that rescheduling the engineering entrance exam now will have a “cascading effect”. Candidates will have to submit the NTA JEE Main application form 2023 on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, before the registration deadline. The bench of acting Chief Justice SV Gangapurwala and J Sandeep V Marne said “Any orders passed to postpone may have a cascading effect. If a student does not fare well in JEE January, he can compete in April. Extraordinary circumstances don't seem to exist. It wouldn't be appropriate to restrain the respondent from conducting a pan India exam.”
The petition filed before the high court also sought relaxation in JEE Main 2023 eligibility criteria. However, the court said, “As far as the challenge to the eligibility criteria is concerned, the counsel for petitioner seeks time to file rejoinder and argue. It will be relevant at the time of admission to the course after June 2023.”
The NTA had last year announced to withdraw 75% criterion as an one-time measure due to the academic loss caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
Several prospective candidates have requested the NTA to postpone the JEE Main 2023 exams due to clash with some state board exams and pre-boards. However, as per the latest update, the NTA will be holding the JEE Main exam 2023 as per the schedule announced earlier.
The first attempt of JEE Mains 2023 will be held between January 24 to 31 and the April session will be held from April 6 to 12, 2023.
