JEE Main 2024 January 24 Exam Analysis: 'Easy to moderate' difficulty level; topics asked

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 for the BArch and BPlan (paper 2A & 2B) today, January 24, 2024. The exam was conducted in the afternoon session from 3 pm to 6:30 pm. As per student reactions, the difficulty level of paper was easy to moderate.

According to Ramesh Batlish, centre head, FIITJEE Noida Centres, students found the Paper 2A different from Paper 2B in terms of Part-III. However, mathematics and aptitude sections were common.

According to FIITJEE Noida, the topics asked and difficulty level of subjects are as follows:

• Mathematics: The mathematics section was easy to moderate. A few students reported that the numerical-based section had a few lengthy questions involving calculations. Questions were asked from almost all chapters like Quadratic Equations, Progression and Series, Inverse Trigonometric Equations, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Probability, Permutation and Combination, Matrices, Determinants, 3D Geometry, Vectors, Limits and Continuity, Definite Integrals, Differential Equations. Less weightage was given to Co-ordinate Geometry with questions asked from Straight Lines. A few MCQs were reported to be lengthy but easy.
• Aptitude: The difficulty level of the aptitude section was easy to moderate. Questions were mostly based on 3-Dimensional Figures. Questions were asked from architecture aptitude, monumental details including logic based questions. This section was also reported as easy to moderate in terms of difficulty.
• Drawing: This section was reported as easy. One question involved copying a picture from screen as per student’s own perception in black and white. The second question involved two options out of which one was to be attempted.

According to FIITJEE Noida, the weightage of chapters and difficulty level of subjects are as follows:

• Mathematics: This section was the same as the BArch paper.
• Aptitude: This section was also the same as the BArch paper.
• Planning: This section was reported as easy. A few questions were asked from National Commission, Town Planning and others were planning based questions, general knowledge questions asking names of architects of some important monuments.
