The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Entrance Examination Main ( JEE Main 2025 ) for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes such as BE and BTech at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).
Candidates desirous of taking admission at NIT Trichy will have to qualify the JEE Main 2025 paper 1 exam, which will be held in two sessions - January and April. JEE Main paper 1 is held for BE, BTech and paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning.
NIT Tiruchirappalli also offers a 5-year BArch programme and popular courses such as 4-year BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical and electronics engineering.
NIT Trichy is the only NIT to retain a position in the top 10 engineering colleges in India for the past 6 years, as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework ( NIRF ) rankings published by the ministry of education. It maintained 9th rank in NIRF for 2 years after jumping one spot higher in 2022. In 2019, it bagged the 10th rank, and in the following two years, it was placed in 9th spot. Overall, it has improved its NIRF India ranking since 2016 when it was ranked 12th best engineering college.

JEE 2025: NIT Tiruchirappalli cut-offs
Four years NIT Trichy JEE Main cut-offs under Home State (HS) and Other State (OS) quota for all BTech and BArch programmes. The demand for the NIT Trichy BArch course has significantly improved this year, with 240 being the last rank to get admission under the OS quota compared to the closing rank of 586 in 2021.
The NIT cut-offs for BTech chemical engineering also increased this year to 7175 compared to 14501 four years back.
