JIPMER MBBS 2018: Exam concluded without a hitch on June 3

NEW DELHI, JUNE 3 : The morning (10.00 am to 12.30 pm) and evening (3.00 pm to 5.30 pm) sessions of JIPMER MBBS 2018 were conducted without any reported cases of glitches on June 3, 2018, by JIPMER, Puducherry. Each session was held for a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes in online mode.

As many as 1,97,751 candidates are expected to have registered for the exam this year. If compared with last year then 1,89,663 candidates registered but only 1,49,369 appeared for the exam. JIPMER MBBS entrance exam was held in approximately 291 centres across the country. The exam cities were increased from 75 to 120 this year. The MBBS entrance exam of JIPMER offers admissions to 150 seats at the JIPMER Puducherry campus and 50 seats at the JIPMER Karaikal campus.

The candidates were instructed to reach the examination hall at least 2 hours before the ir session start ed . E ntry to the examination hall was closed 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the exam ination . Since the exam was held in online mode, the question paper and the answer keys will not be released.

A total of 200 questions were asked from five sections namely- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Quants and Reasoning. 60 questions were asked from Physics, chemistry and Biology section while the remaining two section comprises 10 questions. Four marks for each correct answer are to be awarded, making the total of maximum marks to 800. For the first time, negative marking has been introduced which will result in the deduct ion of one mark for every incorrect response. Accordingly, the first tie-break step has also been changed and will favour the candidate with lower negative responses.

Declaration of result and counselling

The result of JIPMER MBBS 2018 will be declared on or before June 20. Initially, the merit list will be declared which will indicate the names of the candidates who will qualify the exam. The release date of the individual scorecards has not been confirmed by the authorities. The counselling session will start from June 27 onwards. Last year, 57,192 candidates qualified the exam by securing the cutoff percentile.
