JMI’s online, distance learning centre launches prospectus, newsletter, Youtube channel

Centre for Distance and Online Education launched CDOE Post, CDOE prospectus 2024-25, and channel named CDOE JMI Official.

NEW DELHI: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) launched its CDOE bi-annual newsletter ‘The CDOE Post’, prospectus ‘CDOE Prospectus 2024-2025’, and the official YouTube channel ‘CDOE JMI Official’.

Officiating vice-chancellor professor Mohammed Shakeel graced the occasion as the chief guest, and former vice-chancellor of MANUU Hyderabad, professor Mohammad Miyan, was the guest of honour of the launch event. The chief proctor, professor Mohammad Shahid Khan, CPIO Maqsood Ahmad Malik, and other officials of the university were also present to grace the occasion.

Professor Shakeel and professor Miyan jointly released the biannual newsletter, prospectus, and launched the official YouTube channel.

CDOE director professor Jasim Ahmed expressed his gratitude to all the guests for visiting the centre on the occasion. He mentioned that the centre currently has more than 17,000 students and offers 24 programmes. He addressed the current challenges faced by the centre and outlined a roadmap to overcome them in due course of time. He sought support from both invitees for the development of the centre to achieve the objectives and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Professor Miyan emphasized the need to prepare in advance for future requirements to ensure the smooth operation of the centre. He emphasised on the collective responsibility to elevate the centre to the next level and noted that the distance and online mode is enhancing the reach and popularity of JMI. He also shared “nostalgic” memories of his time as the founding director of the CDOE, JMI.

JMI officiating VC congratulated professor Jasim Ahmad, for his efforts towards the launch and stressed on the importance of taking proper actions to curb malpractices in examinations, both online and offline mode. He stated that improving examination stringency would produce competent students and enhance the centre's reputation. He also reminisced about his tenure as director of the centre when he established a learning support centre for BEd in Kuwait and introduced the OMR system for BEd entrance examinations in CDOE.
