NEW DELHI: The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) election committee 2024-25 has announced to hold the JNUSU elections 2025 on April 25. Candidates can file their nominations on April 15
As per the schedule, the polling is scheduled on the 25th April, 2025 and the counting of ballots will start at 9 pm on the same day. “The process of counting, as has been observed over the years, may last till 28th April, 2025. The Election Committee 2024-25 continues to look forward to your esteemed office for the necessary cooperation in conducting elections in a smooth manner,” it said.
The decision comes after the Dean of Students (DoS), Manuradha Chaudhary, confirmed in a letter to the JNUSU General Secretary that the outgoing students' union can conduct the University General Body Meeting (UGBM) to select members for the election committee.
Four years after 2019, the JNUSU elections 2025 were held last year. Over 7,700 students cast their vote in March in 17 polling booths set up at various locations of the university. Dhananjay , from the All India Students' Association (AISA), was the first Dalit president to be elected in the JNUSU election after 30 years.
The university has set up a Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) to oversee election-related complaints and ensure adherence to the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.
