NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education has reconstituted the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2025 for conduct of counselling for admission to BTech programmes at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) for the academic session 2025-2026.

“With the approval of the competent authority, it has been decided to re-constitute Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA)-2025, with the following to conduct joint/common counseling for the academic year 2025-2026,” the education ministry said while listing down the members.

A technical committee, chaired by the then director of IIT Kharagpur, was formed to examine the differences in the counseling process of the IITs and the NITs. Based on their findings, the committee recommended implementing a joint seat allocation process starting from the academic year 2015-2016.

In line with the recommendations of the technical committee, the joint seat allocation process, managed by the JoSAA, was implemented starting from the academic year 2015-2016, after obtaining approval from the councils of IITs and NITSER.
Every year, JoSAA conducts joint counseling for the allocation of seats to undergraduate programs at Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (IITs, NITs, IIITs, SPAs, and other GFTIs), with admissions based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). To facilitate this counseling, the CSAB (for NITs) and JAB (for IITs) will enter into an agreement.
