NEW DELHI: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will start the registration for the counselling and seat allotment from June 19. JEE Advanced 2023 result will be declared on June 18. JoSAA counselling 2023, held as a centralised online admission process, will admit JEE Advanced qualified candidates to the IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs (Triple-I-Ts) and other-GFTIs.

Candidates who qualify JEE Advanced 2023 will be able to register and fill their choice of courses and colleges online. The JoSAA counselling will be held in several rounds.

10 Points On JoSAA Counselling

  1. It is mandatory for all candidates to qualify JEE Advanced 2023 to participate in the JoSAA counselling process.

  2. All the candidates who appeared for JEE Main 2023 will be considered while preparing rank lists and are allowed to fill-in their choices. The rank lists provided by the JEE Apex Board will be used as such without any change even if two or more candidates have the same rank; in other words, JoSAA 2023 will not apply any tie-breaking norms / rules.

  3. For the purpose of seat allocation, qualified candidates are categorized based on the presence or absence of disability and nationality.

  4. Candidates who are not Indian Nationals (by birth or naturalized) (but not OCI/PIO card holders who have secured OCI/PIO card before March 4 are assigned foreign tag. Such candidates are not eligible for seat allocation through JoSAA to NIT+System.

  5. For the purpose of allocating seats for NIT+System, candidates are also assigned a state code of eligibility.

  6. The total intake or the number of seats for an academic program is distributed into different Program-Sections. These are OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, OPEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, and STPwD.

  7. Seat allocation in IITs is based on JEE Advanced 2023 rank and seat allocation in NIT+System is based on JEE Main 2023 rank.

  8. It is the candidate’s responsibility to login to the JoSAA portal and check if a seat is allocated in a given round of seat allocation.

  9. Option to reject (or not accept) the allocated seat: Candidates who want to reject the allocated seat can do so by NOT completing the steps for “Online Reporting”

  10. A candidate, who has already accepted a seat in one of the IITs allotted by JoSAA 2023, can withdraw the seat by reporting online and following the steps contained.
