The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has announced the instructions for candidates opting for choice-2 after the first round seat allotment result for Karnataka NEET UG counselling 2025. KEA has started the process of registering choices for medical, dental, and homeopathy courses by the seat allotment candidates.
As per the Karnataka NEET UG 2025 counselling dates, students can select the choices by August 16 on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. While choice-1 is for candidates who are satisfied with their seat and do not wish to participate in the next rounds, choice-2 is for aspirants who want to sit in the second round for better options.
“Medical seats have been allocated to 1,400 people who have secured seats in other courses including medical in the state under the All India Quota (AIQ), and since such people get admission in the same quota, it will benefit others in the state. Discuss this with your parents and take an appropriate decision,” KEA added.
Those who have chosen choice-1 should pay the fee by August 18, download the seat guarantee card and report to the college by August 19.
In a slight revision of rules, candidates who get a seat with a course fee of more than Rs 12 lakh and choose choice-2 have been exempted from paying the full fee in the first round. Till now, KEA informed, medical aspirants registering choice-2 had to pay the full course fee. However, this time it has been changed.
If a medical seat with a course fee of more than Rs 12 lakh is allotted and the candidate chooses choice-2, he or she will have to pay Rs 12,001.17 as an advance course fee. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, category-1 candidates have to pay Rs 2,000 as a caution deposit. The remaining fee should be paid after the declaration of the results of the Karnataka NEET UG round 2 counselling 2025.
Those who get a medical seat in the 'G' category for government college and choose choice-2 along with those who submit choice-2 for dental, homeopathy courses have to pay the course fee.
If a candidate gets a medical seat allotted in the All India Quota (AIQ) or any other state counseling, such candidates can cancel their KEA seat before the final results of the round 2 seat allocation are announced. Their advance fee will be transferred to the colleges where the seat was allotted. The caution deposit will be refunded to the SC, ST, category-1 candidates.
If they do not get a medical seat in any other counseling but want to cancel the seat allotted through KEA, their advance fee will be forfeited. The caution deposit of the SC, ST, category-1 candidates will also be forfeited.
