NEW DELHI: The school education authorities of Kashmir has revised the school timings from tomorrow, November 1 due to the changing weather and fall in temperatures. As per the order, the classes in government and private schools of Kashmir division will start an hour later than the current timing.
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) stated that the timing for schools falling under municipal limits of Srinagar district will remain same from 10 am to 3 pm. While for the schools falling outside the municipal limits of Srinagar and belonging to other districts and areas of Kashmir province will run from 10: 30 am to 3: 30 pm.
"All the concerned institutions must strictly adhere to the given orders and instructions, and any deviation in this regard will be viewed very seriously," the official order said.
The meteorological department of Jammu and Kashmir has predicted rains and snowfall over higher regions on November 2 and 3, 2023.
Director of MeT Mukhtar Ahmad stated, "The forecast is of generally cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain and snow over isolated to scattered higher reaches on November 02 and 03."

The region is currently experiencing autumn with cold mornings and evenings. The onset of autumn was marked by the first snowfall in the higher reaches of Gulmarg, followed by rains and snowfall in October, impacting the overall weather conditions in the valley.
Early September saw unusually high temperatures in Kashmir, with heat waves to severe heat waves occurring in most parts of the valley. The summer capital of Srinagar recorded the lowest rainfall in 25 years in August, contributing to the valley's severe rainfall deficit in September and August.
