NEW DELHI, JANUARY 10: Minister for Higher Education G.T Devegowda has addressed to various media outlets that the Common Entrance Examination (CET) for admissions into the engineering, medical and dental institutes in Karnataka may be held in online mode from this year. As per to Higher Education Department officials, the software to conduct the test online is almost ready and an official announcement regarding the same is expected soon.

According to reports, a meeting is scheduled to be conducted on January 19 to finalize the decision. If confirmed, Karnataka CET will be held as a computer-based test this year. However,  for students appearing for the exam in rural areas, the pen-and-paper system may be conducted.

During the meeting of the officials, there may also be discussions regarding the syllabus change as per the need of the current situation in the education world. An expert committee may be created for this purpose by the officials.
Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts Karnataka CET annually to provide admissions into the Government Colleges/Private Aided/Private Un-Aided/Universities of Karnataka. The examination has always been held in pen and paper mode.
