NEW DELHI: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has clarified that the Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2025 (KCET 2025) will have the same format as last year. The question paper will have 4 options to answer a question. However, the KEA competitive exams will have five options in MCQs.
The KEA took to the official X account to clarify that the competitive exams conducted by the KEA will have five options in multiple-choice questions (MCQs) instead of four.
“Preparation for #UGCET-25 exam is on and as usual there are only 4 options to answer a question. Don't be confused about this. However, the competitive exam questions conducted by #KEA will now have 5 options for answer selection,” the official said.
The announcement by the KEA comes ahead of the KCET 2025 exam, scheduled to be conducted on April 16, and 17. The KCET registration 2025 commenced on January 23 and was closed on February 25.
KCET 2025 will be conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering, medical, and other professional courses offered at institutions across the Karnataka state for the 2025-26 academic session.

The KCET question paper will be based on the state board syllabus for Class 11 and Class 12, as prescribed by the department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.
The question paper will have objective type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 60 marks. Each question will have four different options, carrying one mark each. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Candidates should note that no marks will be awarded for selecting multiple answers for the same questions.
The KCET exam will be conducted in two days in four sessions. Exams for physics and chemistry subjects will be held in two sessions on April 16. The KCET 2025 exam for mathematics and biology subjects will take place on April 17. The duration of the exam will be 80 minutes.
The application correction facility to make changes in the KCET application form will be made available in the first week of April. The KCET admit card will be issued on April 7. Registered candidates will be able to download the hall ticket through the official website at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in.
