Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission List 2022: Lottery for KVS Class 1 admission postponed

NEW DELHI: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has postponed the lottery for KVS Class 1 admission till further orders. Earlier, the lottery for Class 1 admission was scheduled to be held on April 18, 2022. The revised date for the KVS lottery for Class 1 admission will be released soon.
As per the schedule, the first list was scheduled to be released on April 18, 2022 and then second list on April 25, 2022. After that if the seats remain vacant, the third list was supposed to be released on May 2, 2022. Now, these dates may change as the first lottery Class 1 admission list has been put on hold.
The official notice reads, “The lottery for online admission of Class 1 for session 2022-23 scheduled to be held on April 18, 2022 has been put on hold till further orders. The revised date of the lottery will be communicated soon.”

Earlier, a plea was filed that challenged the minimum age criteria of 6 years for Class 1 for the upcoming academic year. The counsel for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) , which had earlier extended the deadline to April 11 from March 21, 2022.
However, A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi dismissed an appeal by a five-year-old UKG student, against the single judge order rejecting her challenge to the change in the minimum age criteria which was earlier five years, and noted that the decision was in compliance with the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP).
The Center had also supported the decision of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and argued that there was no "vested right" in the petitioners to seek admission in KV and any adverse order from the court would have a pan-India impact.
