Kerala School Kalolsavam 2024 postponed to first week of January 2025 due to NAS, annual exams

NEW DELHI: The 63rd Kerala School Arts Festival 2024, one of the largest school arts festivals in Asia, which was scheduled to be held from December 3 to 7 in Thiruvananthapuram district. However, it has been postponed to the first week of January to avoid clash with the National Achievement Survey exam (NAS exam 2024).

The Central School Education and Literacy Department has announced that it will conduct the NAS exam on a national-level basis on December 4. Higher school students till Class 9 from across the country will be participating in the exam. The state government noted that students will not be able to take part in Kerala school Kalolsavam 2024 on December 4.

Moreover, the 2nd quarter annual examination will be held from December 12 to 20 and the Christmas holiday will begin from December 21 to 29.

Taking this into consideration, Kerala Kalothsavam 2024 will now be organized in Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of January. The exact date will be announced later, the official statement read.

In the event that the arts festival is shifted to January 2025, the “school, upa-zila and district-level arts festivals” will be arranged as follows.

“The Government has issued an order comprehensively revising the Kerala School Arts Festival Manual by including amendments. An order has been issued by revising the Kalotsav manual to include five more indigenous dance forms namely Mangalamkali, Paniyanritham, Malapulaya Attam, Irula Dance and Paliyanritham in the festival. As a part of this, the Kalotsava website has also been revised,” it added.
