KLU VC LSS Reddy’s love for research, teaching will be remembered
LSS Reddy passed away in April at 62. A computer scientist, teacher and administrator, he oversaw the transformation of a college into KL (Deemed to be) University.

A computer science and engineering professor and Vice-Chancellor of KL University, Dr Lakkam Siva Shanker Reddy’s commitment to teaching, his passion for administration and love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Reddy Garu, as he is fondly remembered, passed away on April 27, 2021 at the age of 62 after a brief illness, due to cardiac arrest. He was courageous in his battle with his illness, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Reddy Garu completed his PhD in computer science engineering from BITS Pilani. With over 30 years’ experience in teaching and educational leadership. Reddy Garu’s pride was in K L University and its students, and he shared his passion for learning with thousands of them over the years. His love for research, teaching and administration brought him laurels and respect from his peers.
His administrative acumen saw the transition of an engineering college to a university in 2009 and his keen insight for quality and eye for detail brought several laurels to KL University by way of A++ NAAC rating and other national and international awards. He was quietly efficient in all that he did.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Reddy Garu. He loved a quiet evening with friends and always had a smile on lips. During university breaks, Reddy Garu often explored nature and found unbound joy in the beautiful flora and fauna in a richly endowed green campus. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Reddy Garu is survived by his wife Shailaja, a son Sreetej, one sister, three brothers, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dr Reddy Garu will live in the hearts of his students and always be remembered.
